Black Poop Chocolate Milk

construction of the other

Bunk Lucrecia; The construction of another ; series Immigrants, 2010.

This work consists of texts that I have been collecting, reading and working on my interest in the migration now, its reasons and consequences but mainly on the image to be generated from migrating. Writings of theorists, analysts, social, cultural and economists, testimony from migrants and different views on them are part of a figure that extends three yards from our feet. Overlapping positions are read and seeking the understanding of migration and its potentialities in various fields, to comment on speculation about human resources for the benefit of sectional interests and tendentious manipulation, even the most aberrant expressions of racism and xenophobia. Say that these last two are linked in understanding the other as an object, use and disposal.

The other is a recurring theme in my work and in this case, the other an immigrant, from elsewhere, although paradoxically it is here, is the subject of installation which is my last. In these figures use paper, shadow projections cut myself, which test, clothing and precise in different poses. They are my shadows because I work on my experience as a person of "elsewhere" in this, say that this collection of writings is part of my need and search for understanding certain postures and expressions of people to me, or other coming from different places, were inexplicable to me by my very presence.

So I was gathering material, documents on the matter and I started to go by coating or filling my shadow space with them. The first feeling after all the gloom covered was ultimately successful because it was linked with some certainty or intuition that I had on the beginning of my research, the construction of a fiction, not only by the artificiality that builds artistic expression for something to believe but the issue itself is that, ultimately, was also a fiction, a construction of what is believed or understood that the other is.

In this case, it is the extension of my person consists of external views, speculations, arguments and OSNAP subjectivities that part of what I am also, immigrant . Although we all have very similar shades it is loaded with all of what we think, imagine and speak of the "other" but very real and crucial for migrating. I think that's the way I've found to explain what people see when I see, or hear me, or when they realize that I grew up in one or more places, without knowing. Their fears, feelings, thoughts that pass through the common mind of those who believe a place like yours and are in with someone who qualify in another.

This figure is presented with another at his side, black, with blocks of posticks at his feet with the words we are one in several languages. The posticks are to be adhering to the black figure of one to cover it like the other.
